Claims that a drink, supplement, tea, or “detox” can remove 15 kilograms of waste from your colon overnight are not supported by good medical evidence. Your colon does not normally store huge amounts of toxic waste that need to be flushed out, and your digestive system already removes waste naturally. Routine colon cleansing is not medically necessary for detoxification.
That does not mean constipation, bloating, or difficult bowel movements should be ignored. There are safer, evidence-based ways to support normal bowel function without aggressive overnight cleanses.
Why the “15 Kilograms of Waste” Claim Is Misleading
The idea that most people carry many kilograms of old stool or “toxins” stuck to the colon is a common detox myth.
Your digestive system continuously moves food residue through the intestines, absorbs nutrients and water, and eliminates stool. In a healthy person, the colon does not require routine flushing to remove toxins.
A large drop on the scale after diarrhea, laxatives, or colon irrigation would mostly reflect temporary losses of stool, water, and intestinal contents. It would not represent 15 kilograms of harmful toxins or body fat.
What Is Actually Considered Constipation?
Constipation may involve:
- Fewer than three bowel movements per week
- Hard, dry, or lumpy stools
- Difficulty or pain when passing stool
- A feeling that you have not completely emptied your bowel
Normal bowel habits vary considerably from person to person.
